Therapy is a place where you can be yourself—even if you're not sure what that looks like right now.

Feeling lost or stuck in a rut? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Whether you’re freaking out about graduating and entering the “real world,” in the middle of a mid-life crisis, or feeling like you’ve lost your edge at work or on the field, you deserve someone in your corner to back you up.

That’s where I come in. As a marriage and family therapist in Rancho Santa Fe, Encinitas, and beyond, I help people like you find a new identity and fresh perspective when dealing with life’s curveballs.

Reaching out for help isn’t easy, but it’s even harder to stay stuck in old ways of thinking or acting. By incorporating cognitive behavioral techniques, we can understand the connection between your thoughts and actions, making it easier to break free from unhelpful patterns. If you’re here, I have a good feeling that you’re ready to shake things up and make real changes.

The therapy room is a safe, supportive environment where you can do just that. Together, we’ll dig deep, identify what’s not working, and find real-life solutions to your real-life challenges. You’ll walk away feeling empowered to tackle whatever life throws at you and finally lead the healthy and rewarding life you want.

Meet Sam Blumberg

I’m a marriage and family therapist with 10+ years of experience in the mental health field. I obtained my master's degree from Alliant International University. In other words, I’m passionate about helping people. In my time as a therapist, I’ve supported foster kids, teens, young- and middle-aged adults, and couples. I’d like to do the same for you.

Both in my personal life and my private practice, I value authenticity. By being real in our therapeutic relationship (even when it involves telling you something that’s hard to hear), I hope to help you build authentic relationships outside of the therapy room.

Mental health treatment doesn’t have to be cold and clinical. I want to get to know the real you and understand what you need to live a fulfilling life. During our time together, you’ll be met with warmth, compassion, and even a little humor.

There are many different ways to support your mental health and work toward your goals. I offer a range of services so you can get the support you need to thrive. Not sure which one is the right fit for you? Drop me a line and we can figure it out together.

My specialties

As a therapist in Encinitas, CA, I enjoy working with a wide variety of people. With that being said, I have a few focus areas that I'm especially passionate about. Here are a few of the topics I specialize in.

Sport performance

The world of athletics has its own culture, and with that comes unique stressors. I work with athletes of all ages and levels on managing that stress and learning how harnessing the power of the mind can help achieve greater results. Understanding the principles of psychology, especially sport psychology, is crucial in diagnosing mental challenges and enhancing athletes' mental skills.

Relationships

All relationships face challenges, but this doesn’t mean your relationship is doomed. Working with a therapist can give you the skills you need to navigate a rough patch and deepen your connection. Sam Blumberg is a licensed marriage and family therapist. I’m especially passionate about helping athletes and their partners work through relationship issues.

Anxiety and Stress Management

Everyone experiences stress from time to time (in fact, a little stress can be healthy) but anxiety takes it to a different level. If you're constantly worried and tense, experience panic attacks, or can't seem to relax, therapy can help.

ADHD

Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) can make things tough for kids, teens, and their families—as well as adults of all ages. If you're struggling with managing your symptoms or feel unsure how to support your kid or teen, I can help.

Depression & mood disorders

While depression can look different from person to person, it often comes with low self-esteem, negative thoughts, and a lack of interest in activities. Therapy can help you tap into self-compassion and finally feel good about yourself again, even if that feels out of reach right now. Family therapy can also play a crucial role in supporting individuals with mood disorders by fostering a supportive environment and addressing relational dynamics.

Teens

The teenage years are full of transitions as your teen learns to understand themselves and the world. On top of that, the increased pressures of school and extracurriculars leave many teens exhausted and overwhelmed. Therapy is a great solution for learning how to cope.
